With the water running, take a careful look at your drip-irrigated areas and make a note of any problems. This chart will help you troubleshoot the most likely causes:  

Pooling water, soggy soil, yellow leaves Excess water from cracked tube or loose fitting Dry plants, uneven growth, cracked earth Too little water, possibly from clogged emitters or a pinched line Hissing or spraying water Split hose or disconnected fitting


DRIP TIP: If thirsty critters are gnawing on tubing, try leaving containers of water around the area for them to drink instead. Burying the tubing or covering it with mulch can also help. 
 

Fix it Fast: Simple Solutions for Kinks, Leaks, and Clogs

Repairs are easier than you might think. Once the water is turned off, try these quick fixes: 

  • Punctures or unwanted holes: Seal them with goof plugs, which have different-sized ends to fit a variety of openings.
  • Kinked or damaged tubing: Straighten kinks by soaking the tubing in hot water and laying it flat. If the tubing is damaged or won’t hold its shape, cut out the section with the 4-in-1 Cut N’ Punch Tool and reconnect it with a barbed coupling—no clamps required.
  • Leaky fittings: Make sure tubing is securely installed and replace damaged fittings.
  • Clogged emitters: Remove the emitter and soak it in equal parts water and white vinegar. Brush away debris, then rinse thoroughly.
